Happy Mail from Anthro

Since it is Mother’s Day week AND Anthropologie has been running some great sales AND I still had gift cards from Christmas; I decided it only made sense to do a little shopping and treat myself. Right?

Now I know all of you are thinking that I bought that adorable fish skirt on my Mother’s Day Wish List, but I did not.  At least not yet. (Psst-I am still waiting for it to go on sale and you will be the first to know when it does).  What I did purchase were a few colorful pieces that I can wear with basic bottoms that I already own, i.e. denim cut-offs (my go-to lately). Are you ready to see?

Ta daaaa! My first item is this fabulous Fete Kimono made by India Collection (I’m sorry to say but it is currently sold out:( - here’s a link to other fun substitutes). I chose this for a statement piece because it’s cheeky in a good way. With its bold color and fun leopard print (literal leopards; how fun is that?) it grabbed my attention right away!

I plan to wear it with a basic white top and my fav denim cut-offs (they are broken-in, hide love handles and are not too short). For shoes(my favorite thing to buy), I like these two options:

1.  For an everyday casual look - I suggest these Sam Edelman slides that have just the right amount of animal print(they go with everything).

2. For a dressier look(and if you are looking for height), check out these super comfortable black espadrille wedges by Eileen Fisher. (I have the exact ones linked and they are on sale right now at Zappos-yay).

Bold Leopard Kimono

This oh-so-happy colorful blouse by Anthropologie is the second item I selected.  Since it is hot in Florida already, I will roll the sleeves to ¾ length and also wear it with my fav denim shorts.  However, if it is still cool where you live (and for when it cools off here), I totally see this top with jeans or casual black pants.   For shoes, I suggest black sandals or these fun orange thongs for a pop of color. (Excuse the toe marks. They are well-loved:))

Colorful blouse with denim shorts

My third and final item in the bag was this Odette Smocked Blouse by Maeve (it has a Liberty of London vibe).  I love how it was thoughtfully smocked at the waist yet still blouses at the top (perfect if you don’t have the flattest stomach but also don’t want to look like you have no waist at all).  As a bonus, the colors in this top will carry you into the fall.  It can also be worn with denim cut-offs or perhaps a cute casual skirt. I suggest pairing this outfit with these go-with-everything gladiator style sandals in a nude color. I am also picturing this outfit with green or brown Birkenstocks and a straw fedora hat at my next fall music festival. What do you think?

Floral blouse w/ denim shorts

Well, there you have it!  My happy mail from Anthropologie.  Three happy items to perk up my denim cut-offs. No, I have not been compensated to say this but Anthro (with its boho vibe) is pretty much my spirit store- it gets me.  I do not buy everything there, but I love to buy a few fabulous pieces each season to mix in with other classic basics.  I can always count on them to freshen my wardrobe!   I will continue to update my shop page with these items but in the meantime, let’s chat. Tell me, what is your go-to shop? I would love to hear from you. I am also here for fashion questions. Leave me a comment below:)

A Mother's Day Wish List

Shop with Tippy - My Mother’s Day Wish List

hint-hint

Here’s a little round up of all my favorite things this Mother’s Day. (For all details and links to resources, visit my SHOP page.)

And, for a sappy pre-Mother’s Day post, keep reading…

Mother’s Day is always sentimental to me.

I remember when all I ever wanted to be called was “MAMA”. For fourteen long years I waited to hear those words.

These days I hear it from my little blessings ALL THE TIME. “Mama, what are we eating?” “Mama, where are you?”(I hear from the bathroom door) “Mama, where are my shoes?” “Mama, I need help.” “Mama, I'm ready for you to tuck me in.”

I have been told that being a mother is the hardest but most rewarding thing you will ever do in life. I agree. The calling, although it may be exhausting at times(shout-out to all the quarantine moms) is always rewarded abundantly.

Just when you think you are at the end of your rope, those twinkling eyes and sweet little arms know exactly how to win you over. With the best squeeze, they unexpectedly whisper “Mama, I love you.” And for that moment, I pause and everything feels wonderful in the world.

So, to all the MOMS - the mamas, the future moms, the almost moms, the birth mothers, the adoptive mamas, the grandmothers, the step-moms, the aunts, the nannies… (because it truly takes a village)

Cheers to you! May your day be full of peace and joy and hope and laughter.
